I'll be attending Repticon in Fort Lauderdale this weekend and I'm hoping to pick up a white lipped python. I've done a lot of research, but was hoping to get some opinions on here and hear some experiences from current white lipped owners.

What is a fair price for these guys?
    Do you recommend any breeders?
    Opinions on the snake?

    Thanks in advance!

I lived in FL for 4 years, and wanted a white-lipped python for most of that time, but only seldom saw them at shows. Do you know which species you are after? last I knew, one was available here in the states from time to time, but the others were rarely (if ever) available.

I apologize for not answering sooner...I am in school and the classes are pretty intense. That and the fact that I have a very active 6 year old who really keeps me busy. Anyway, I used to have one (used to because he has since passed on). I had him for about 4 years, I don't know what happened. I walked into the snake room to find him on the floor of the cage dead. When I first got him (as a Father's Day gift), he was a little larger than a hatchling and bit at everything that moved. He would snap at the cage every time I walked by. As he matured, he calmed down A BIT. He was severly unpredictable and taking him out of the cage was a crap shoot as to whether or not I got bit. He always drew blood when he bit and would bite several times in rapid succession. However, he was the most beautiful snake around, beautiful irredescent coloring and just so sleek and quick! Mine was the gold phase and as such, he was the one that is most commonly found in the pet trade. The black phase snakes are much calmer and thus much more in demand (also much rarer and more costly). Mine was around $100.00 I think. I don't know of any breeders, but I have seen numerous ones for sale on other reptile websites that specialize in reptile sales. I would LOVE to have another one or two or ten. I love feisty bitey type snakes. Sorry if this answer is a bit "all over the place", I am just trying to tell you everything I can. If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
