Bait shops and the like don't carry any live bait during the winter months, so where will I get live food? Do stores like petsmart somehow keep them year round?

Yes, most pet stores keep supplied all year round, you can also order them on-line.

What type of live food do you need?

He's feeding a Bearded Dragon. Petsmart, Petco and all those chains keep crickets, mealworms, superworms, waxworms and earthworms in stock. No worries.

Plus as they grow up they'll start eating more friuts and vegy's. That gives a lot more options.

If at all possible this is the way you want to go. There's all sorts of live feeders that you can grow and it'll save you a TON of money in the long run. Plus you always know that your animal is getting a good healthy meal.

I definitely agree with Ian. Breeding is the way to go. I am breeding my own mealworms and soon to be roaches, so I'll have plenty. I haven't had to buy food for my leopard geckos for a couple months now. It's nice to always have lots of bugs in stock!
