I can't find these guys ANYWHERE! I currently own a juvi, who was wild caught and is super tame. I'm really interested in these guys, would love to breed them. If anyone knows where to find these let me know.

Depending on where you are in SoCal finding them can be tricky.

They tend to swim through leaf litter and schrubs with ease and their colors make spotting them tough.

Thank you. I live down in Chula Vista, and have only ever seen 2 (babies) If I were willing to drive up somewhere to do some herping where would you recommend?

Getting out of populated areas is a big one, cats, domestic and feral eat up a huge number of anything that wiggles... I'll have to check my map... forgot where CV was exactly :p ... oh wow way down there :p Ok East... however I think most Alligator Lizards are going to be north a ways. Many books show the range of these guys so find an area that has reasonable leaf litter accumulation (most has probably burned away) and moisture potential. Pine forest, chaparral, and the like that is not baked dry yet :p
