I seen this little head poking out of the soil in a plant in lowes and so I told one of the clerks and she said that they always get strange stuff in like that and when I asked if I could take him out of the dirt she said if you buy the plant you can have it so I bought the plant lol. I am not to sure what he is but he is a cool dude he is already eating too. :)

the plant was a smaller yucca palm tree the plant is ugly but I am happy with this little guy. all he will eat right now is rosy reds and he spends a lot of time in the water dish so I am thinking some type of water snake? but I am not to sure

    Its definitely not a gartersnake!
Looks more like a northern water snake(nerodia sp). I am surprised its that calm. Usually they are nasty little buggers.

So should I keep him on the fish diet? Or what should I do? I tried a pinky and it is way too big for him. And as far as attitude he never even strikes at me he is ALMOST better behaved than my retic. lol I think that is so cool

They also are bad about musking you! PEEEUUUU!
I would try to get him on rodents. A fish-only diet has deficiencies that will lead to severe health problems.

What can I feed him for rodents compared to him they are huge. I don't know if he would be able to eat a pinkie? He hasn't musked me either and I hope it stays that way lol cause I know that stuff stinks really bad.

That snake should be fully capable of eating a newborn pinkie.

I will try it should I try f/t first and see if he goes for it?

Couldn't hurt to try FT first.
That's pretty cool you went to buy and plant and made a new friend. right on!

You can try FT and see. Maybe you will luck out!
Since it's a wild snake you may have to start it out with live and then convert.

Try an f/T pinkie. If you need to, you could scent it with some fish to get him started.
    Cute little guy! :)

Even though they are called watersnakes their wild diet consists of fish, amphibians and rodents.

Sometimes little snakes will eat bugs and worms. Try a nightcrawler.

He did eat a f/t with out even a hesitation. I am so excited! I was so scared that he wouldn't even acknowledge it, but he did.

That's great to hear. Now do some research on this guy and give him a good home! Much better than what could have happened if an unsuspecting customer took him home!
