And my Melanistic Eastern Garter (Thamnophis Sirtalis Sirtalis)

Anerythristic "red sided" (Thamnophis Sirtalis Parietalis) . Even though the species is called red sided, Anery specimens have no red pigment.

This female is named "badass" she tags my hands constantly, the only way to take her out is with her mouth full first.

This gal is huge by garter snake standards.... She's a real doll too.

    The snows again

    Albino red sided.

What we call a "dirty snow" He was the result of crossing a melanistic with an albino

Jadis was born almost a year ago when I bred a het for Anery with my orange nose Christmas albino Thamnophis Radix.

The only melanin on this snake at all is her black eyes with red pupils. The only real white is the stripe down her back, I love the ghost pattern where the black spots would have been.

She is also the "alpha" of her litter, I kept all the babies and Jadis has grown the most & the fastest. She also has the biggest appetite, she's nearly ready for whole pinks, after that the real growth spurt starts.

Beautiful! Some with the red on them where siezed at the airport here because it's illegal to sell them and they ended up at a petshop. She was not allowed to sell them but offered them free with purchase of a snake set up.

    Now THAT is stupid!

Not doubting your word, but there is some major holes in this story.

Generally animals seized at airports do not wind up in any pet shops.

    Where did this occur at?

I have shipped and received literally hundreds of specimens, and this is a first for me.

It was in Grande Prairie Alberta, this is the story from the owner of the petshop, who I have known for years. We have no reconized reptile rescues up here so she often gets the reptiles that are abandonded and removed from their homes. We are pretty isolated up here, so I am not sure what else they would have done with the snakes, I just know that they where siezed and ended up at the petshop. Sorry if that doesnt sound like it's true but I am an honest person and this is what was told to me buy a woman who I have know and trust.

I would have totally bought a snake set up for a free snake :)

The problem being that if they are illegal, then they are illegal.
Down here in the states with the 4 inch law, some shops tried that ploy with "buy an aquarium and they would throw in a free baby turtle!"
It didn't work down here either.

Very good looking snakes! I like the reds on them!
You must be pretty quick to let them down on the open ground like that.
I remember chasing garters as a kid and those guys are FAST!

I never once implied YOU were dishonest ;) and I am not overly familiar with Canadian laws. I was simply indicating that it sounded "fishy" and maybe you had been fed some BS.

Music bootleggers used to try this method, "Buy a blank CD for $10 and I will put a free concert on it."

Too bad the RIAA and FBI did not agree with that concept.

I only do outside shoots with my most docile snakes.

Took the melanistic guy outside once, as soon as his belly hit the ground, he was off like a rocket, so no pictures came of that attempt.
