I have a functioning waterfall I built out of foam, grout, sealant, etc. It works well with one exception.

I built it in a corner and it sits on a base the extends well over the edge of a 55 gallon aquarium that it spills into. The problem I have is that while the water mostly spills properly into the aquarium so curls over the lip and trickles back under the base and into my "dry" area. I am about to put another tube of silicone around the lip and under the base but I was wondering if there were any hydrologists out there that had ideas on how to make it just spill instead of curling under the base.

YOu would need higher output on the pump.
Think of it like pouring water out of a pitcher-if you tip the pitcher slightly the water just spills over and slides down the side of the pitcher put if you tilt it more so there is a higher pressure it forces the water out and over the lip in a steady stream.
