I would say your missing a larger UVB bulb. I have 2 24" zoo med 10.0florescent blub's ontop of my 4' wide enclosure. The uvb 10's are said to put out 24" of uvb ray's from the florescent tube down. and the uvb 5.0's only have 12" of said light travel. So in order for him to get his proper uvb lighting he would need to be able to sun himself closer to the blub's.

Atleast this is my .02 cents and understanding of lighting.

So the wider and larger uvb rating on the bulb the better uvb output for your CWD. This way he lives as normal a captive life style as he can get. And you prevent any health issues that may result from improper lighting.
