Thanks! He is also totally friendly! Bonus!
I also have a very calm young male, who is starting to look just like yours. So I hope that he will turn out just as friendly.
On that note, does your dragons (and the male in particular) seek your company? How do they interact with you?
Mine is happy to sit around the house. He will let me hold him anytime I want. He does scratch at the glass when I walk by his enclosure letting me know he wants out sometimes. I also let him run around the basement often which he loves...
Super sad day today! Our gravid alpha female, Bailey, drown in the pond somehow. Not sure if the big male had a part in it or not (he's been breeding up all three females lately) but I found her upside down at the bottom just a few minutes after it happened. She was soaking in the bin when I was changing out the water in the Sailfin Dragons enclosure. I cleaned their Rubbermaid and the water dragons were up next... When I came back I reached to grab the water dragon tub and there she was... I quickly pulled her out and held her upside down trying to get the water out of her lungs. I then tried to revive her the best I could for the next 40+ minutes but she was gone. She was a great dragon and we had her for 6 great years!
That's really sad and a nearly absurd way to loose a dragon, I'm sorry.
I know right?! Had the same water bin in there for years...
Thinking about it, she might have had a minor stroke. I realize that it sounds strange, but that's actually more common in lizards than suspected. That's the only explanation why she wasn't able to get out of the water for me (I really doubt that the male is involved, and in addition, CWD are known for holding their breath for an insanely long time under water).
Whatever the cause, it doesn't matter now. Good luck with all the other dragons and please keep posting the nice pics
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate your insight!
So true, I'll keep rocking the dragon trio! I have some dragon eggs in incubation now... Think I'll feel a little better when the babies hatch and there are more dragons running around!
