I doubt the "furry lovers" will ever totally accept the idea of using cats and dogs as feeders (again, the ones that are strays that have been euthanized, and had no place to go, or died of old age, that would otherwise have been cremated or buried.), no matter how it is presented. I think the real problem that people have is because of people like High-End-Herps setting a horrible example, and then going horribly public with stories like this. They see this headline, and think that all people with large constrictors are going to steal the neighbors cats and dogs to feed to their reptiles! In order to protect their pets, they would push for a law that prevents the euthanizing of cats and dogs for the purpose of consumption, or outlaw consumption outright. All it would do in the long run would be to create more problems than it solved. Look at what happened when they did something similar for horses here in the U.S. - and even though people don't eat horse here, Most,if not all zoos do use it to feed their carnivores. Now they just have to have it imported - and you can imagine what that does to the price of what used to be very cheap meat.
