    Hey,
As you know, I am having Animal Plastics build my bearded dragon cage for me. Unfortunately they only have 18" UVB fixtures and I will need a 36" fixture since the cage is going to be 48" long. They said if I can find one, they will either tell me how to install it in the plastic cage or install it for me if I ship it to them.

Can anyone recommend a fixture to buy?
Would anyone know how to install it?

    Thanks!
    Steve

    I would look into lightyourreptiles.com

I can't imagine installation would be very difficult, but since you would be ordering online from them I would just go ahead and have the fixture shipped to animal plastics and have them do it for you.

Excellent idea! Thank you. Now which fixture would you recommend?

And, I am using reptisun 10.0 right now but is Arcadia 12.0 better?

A 36 inch hood was really hard for me to find but I finally located a used one at my local pet store. :)

Thanks but I am not looking for a hood, I am looking for it to mount inside the enclosure :)

Thanks! I think I will stick with reptisun just because I can get it easier around where I am. Umm...do you see a 36" fixture on that site for reptisuns? I cant seem to find it.

Hi, are you asking about the housing that the UVB tube fits into?

Yeah, is that called a fixture? But ya..I need what the UVB tube fits into and that will be going inside the enclosure. Any ideas?

Here... You just need to be sure the housing takes the particular diameter (and length, of course ) of tube, otherwise, it`s not a "specialist" fitting, a normal household type.

How will I know for sure if it will fit a reptisun 10.0?

As you see in the photo, the fixture comes apart, I just screwed that bit of beading on from the inside, then put two small hooks on to hook onto another two in the roof. In your case, you will probably need to drill two holes in the top so you can attach another piece of beading to the inside of the roof and put another two small hooks into that to hang the fixture from (I hope that makes sense), it really is very simple!

It should tell you what the diameter of the tube is (I think one inch), but I`ll take a look now and get back to you, give me 5 mins..

It doesn`t say, but I`ve used them in the past, they all fitted o.k, the best thing is to buy the tube first, then measure the diameter and get the appropriate fitting. It`s some years since I`ve bought them, and I can`t remember whether some fittings actually take different diameter tubes?

Do you remember where you got your fixture from and are you using reptisun?

Both Australia and England! You just get them in hardware/electrical shops, I`m sure someone else will give you a store name (I`m in the U.K just now).
EDIT: Yes, I`ve used Reptisun UVB tubes before, they`re a decent brand. The fixture is just a normal household one.

Thanks for your help on every thread that i have started! :)

And I think I found from googling is that reptisuns are T8. Is that correct?
