I was down in Flaming Gorge with some friends. We had just came from cliff diving when we saw a huge snake. Sorry, we didn't get any pictures. It was 6-7 feet long, 3-4 inches thick, and black with splotches of color. I studied the shape of the head; it was about halfway between the rounded shape of a non-venomous snake, and the keen triangle of a rattlesnake. Any possible identification of this snake>

I'm far from being a snake id expert but just based on the size you estimate, my guess is it might have been a gopher snake. Any venomous one in that location would never get that big.
