Retics are the longest snakes. Anacondas are the heaviest though shorter in length.
definitely the longest, though not the heaviest, so I guess it depends on how you define 'biggest'
I remain to keep the Burmese, Retics, and the Anacondas of this world a fascination. Fantastic, beautiful, respected and have all intentions of giving them their space.
I will be getting a tiger retic soon.
My son has one and it seems very docile. However he has moved and the owner of the house says no snakes. Even though the snake is beautiful(albino), it is large(15 ft.), and I do not want to be responsible for its care.
There are a number of websites for info. on reticulated pythons, here`s just one which gives some fairly good advice on keeping this species in captivity: squamations.com ( But have a look at as many as possible.)
It`s good that you`re asking questions first, these very large animals need experienced keepers, certainly not for anyone who hasn`t kept large snakes before!
