just called the store for a price on a MVB bulb around 70 bucks. I think im gonna stick with the combo of heat lamp and uvb bulb for right now. I gotta just get a different fixture that I can mount in the cage for the UVB fluorescent bulb and run my timer on it.
room temp is around 70 F

    Sorry, laptop misbehaving! (Again).
It`s o.k to use the fluorescent tubes, but in the long run, it`s a false economy, plus they just aren`t nearly as good as the Megarays and similar, which are as close to natural sunlight as it`s possible to get. It`s easiest to use normal household bulbs to see what temps you get, but I think a 150 watt would be close, considering the room temps are around 70f. You will still need supplementary lighting in that size of tank.

if you order direct from, its cheaper. plus the is just a ceramic dome and it only needs to get replaced once a year, instead of twice a year for the strip lights. In the long run, its cheaper.
