Okay, so I've had this cherry head tortoise for almost two years now. He eats really good, although it's picky. Anyway today I picked him/her up and looked at the bottom of its shell and noticed this. I don't know what this is and what to do about it, but it doesn't look good to me. Can someone enlighten me? I'm really concerned about my little guy. And this seems like something that would take a bit of time to happen... so I feel even worse.

Looks like shell rot, unfortunately I'm not certain which ways would be best to go about treatment. Others may be able to help with that.

I agree with shell rot. I would seek veterinary care.

I too agree with shell rot. It's probably from too wet of substrate so let the substrate dry out a bit and that will help it from reaccuring. For now you will need to go to a vet and they will prescribe some antibiotic ointment to fix it.

Thank you all for your responses. I feared that. I will do so immediately!
