Hey I recently got a juvenile rosy boa. We rescued this boa from a failing pet store. We have the boa in a ten gallon tank mixed with bark and aspen bedding two hides a branch and have a under tank heater for night and a red light for day. Anyways we were told on the day we purchased our boa that it needed to be fed a pinky that day we went to a different pet store to purchase a live pinky but they were out so we got a very small fuzzy and he took it pretty fast. The next day we held it a couple of times not long. And today out boa regurgitated his mouse. He is acting fine still active. I was just wondering how much time we should give the boa before handling after feeding.

Never handle a snake that has just been fed. I give them 48 hours after feeding. It is also recommended that you do not even try to feed, or handle, till the snake has been in the new enclosure for a week.

How hot does the red light get anyways, belly heat is almost always recommended over a heat lamp
