Well we have had a new addition to our collection. He is a yearling albino bullsnake.
This little guy has some spunk. Between the tail rattling and the hissing you would think I had a grown rattlesnake in the box!
Its hard to beleive that something so small can make so much noise!
And so without without further ado,......

He looks great, can you show the end of his tail, do they have a similar structure to the rattlers?

LOL! At this point he is still unnamed,....I am very bad about being slow to name them as I want a fitting name.
While Kathy would have them named before they come in the front door!
Stefan the tail looks like a normal snake tail, no rattles! They just vibrate the heck out of it and make a noise against whatever they are touching.
A behavior that, in the wild, added to them coiling, hissing, and striking, along with the normal brown blotches on their backs, gets many of them killed by people who can't tell the difference between them and a true rattlesnake.

Nice score. These guys are very underestimated snake in how cool they are. Good luck and I can't wait to see some adult pics.

Congrats Merlin!!! He's a beautiful snake -- for some reason I'm becoming partial to the albinos...:D

And I can attest to the rattling sounding like a rattle snake, I almost had heart failure when I first heard my corn snake doing it....

Congrats! He's gorgeous. Has he puffed his head at you yet? Aside from the tail rattling, I think that's what I like best about Pituophis species.

Oh yeah! And you can't beleive all that hiss comes out of such a little fellow.
The First time my wife heard it she couldn't beleive it was him!
Shoot my big boa doesn't make that much noise!

It`s so ironic that they developed that behaviour to ward off predators, but as far as our own species is concerned it does the opposite, and costs them their lives!

Beautiful snake. Congrats. Personally I could never keep a snake, just not my thing. Not to mention my parents don't like them and my sister is deathly afraid of them (she cant even stand seeing pictures of them). I do think they are beautiful animals though.
