    Hey ig fans,
My rescue org, Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary, is so overwhelmed with iguana calls we can't take them all in. I've been referring people to (an ig adoption organization) and the free adoption message boards on our own site. I'd like to give these folks some better options though because bad things happen to reptiles when people are tired of keeping them.

I've heard there are a handful of good iguana rescues out there, some even down south with large outdoor habitats for rescue igs. I've only been able to get an email address for one, and I was hoping to line up a few more so I could send my ig calls in the right direction when we can't handle them ourselves. Does anyone know where I could find some names, phone numbers, or emails of some good dedicated ig rescues/preserves out there? If you would rather not post the info publicly please email me at:

    Hi Jesse-

So YOU are responsible for us (GIS) being innundated with iguanas!?! LOL

The first advise we give any prospective rescue is to start slow, otherwise, as you well know, it can get out of hand pretty quickly.

As for adoption/rescue orgs, I don't know of a single one that is not currently in your position right now. That is, with winter coming, they are all overfull!

Good luck in your efforts. I wish I could be of more help but I received no less than 6 requests to my private e-mail to take in iguanas people no longer want. I'm out of resources myself.

Please continue to refer folks to the GIS (an iguana information source that happens to have an adoption board), our network is large and the exposure is good.

are you wanting them to go to rescues or will you allow people to take them in, i have worked with them before, but my dad wont let me have a huge one i could get by with maybe2-3 foot one though, and i could only take one so other than that i dont know how to help. the pet store here might take in a couple, but i would have to rehabilitate them first to get them suitable for adoption. if you would be interested i will see what i can do to help.
