I went to feed my boa last week (we do frozen rats) and he took the rat, but when I went to check on him, he ended up putting it in his water dish. I removed the rat and got him another one and tried to feed him again, this time he wouldn't even take it. Then I realized his mouth didn't seem to open. No tongue coming out. I freaked out and Google info. I looked to see if he had mouth rot and it didn't look like it. His mouth was opened for a bit and his tongue and everything seemed OK. Just checked him last night and he seems to not be able to open it again. He keeps rubbing his nose on the glass. I'm really freaking out, could he have messed up his jaw? What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Since the mouth does open, I suspect that the snake is starting a shed cycle. They will not usually feed at that time.

    He can't open it.

Hi, you said the mouth was open for a short time, in which case I would tend to agree with what Merlin suggested.
Without disturbing the snake, can you get a couple of closeup head shots?
