Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! Yes, they both turn 12 later this year. They normally mate on the rug in my lounge room, to the point that they rarely mate inside the enclosure. I've got hundreds of photographs like this: Just the one. It held up for years and years, but now it's toast. I haven't replaced it, yet, because I'm waiting to see if I'm moving house in the next year or so and getting the monitors outside. No sense replacing it now, as a new one would get destroyed pretty quickly as long as I still let the monitors roam around my home frequently.
Thanks for sharing the pics Crocdoc. I enjoy seeing you post here. I do believe Laceys are in my top 3 monitor favs and I never get tired of looking at them. Amazing in all that time you are still on the same sofa.
I envy the fact that you live where they live so the air around you is the air they breathe normally. (does that make sense??)
If you turned off your air conditioner in summer and opened your windows, you'd get the same thing. That's the only difference, really, is that I don't have central heating or air conditioning and just leave the windows open. The monitors still need to spend time in their enclosure to bask and retain good moisture levels.
Okay, lets get this thread back on topic again and away from scary creepy things that should be observed with telephoto lenses. I have my workboots ready to go.
In the interest of getting this thread back on track I have moved the spiders and centipedes discussion to..... http://www.herpcenter.com/general-discussion/39732-creepy-crawlers.html
