Iguana Aggression

    Need help on techniques and ways to go about earning and gaining my iguanas trust he is a rescue so i am pretty sure the first 2 years of his life he wasnt handled at all he trys to tail whip when u go to get him out and some times hisses just got him home yesterday so i am willing to take any advice on how to show my guy im only here to take care of him and love him

    Go slowly. Iguanas are creatures of habit. In the wild they are a prey animal and can very defensive. You can try hand feeding as well as just spending time sitting near the enclosure. Do not take the it out and let it run around. If you have to chase it down you take on the appearance of a predator.

    Understood so just need to b persistent and calm give him time should i b trying to get him out at least once a day and holding him

    He really isnt small he is about 2 and a half years old maybe 3 and hes like 3.5ft

    The same techniques will work. I would suggest leaving it alone for a week or so to settle in.
