My husbands allergies/ashma are so bad right now that he is in the ICU in a medically induced coma, he is hooked up to a ventulater. So now I have to get all the allergy causing animals out of my house. Since building Raptor land I have noticed a lot of extra dust, it is 99.9% sealed off but it's still dusty in here :(

There is a lady who I know from a reptile group near by who is going to start building her own Raptor land(his enclosure) today! I hate to see him go but family always comes first!!
I don't think it would be possible to move his current one, I have the plywood screwed to the walls and of course all that dirt/sand... I am planning on building a garden this year so I'll put all the dirt there and add some better soil to the top.

I'm off to the hospital in a hour, hopefully he has improved enough for them to take him off the ventulator!

How long has he been sick?! My god, I'm so sorry! I hope he gets better soon!

Oh, and before he comes home, if you want, try using a high power filter (they an be pricey) with a HEPA filter, and putting it right next to raptor land. It's helped me with a few allergens. If you don't want to try, i TOTALLY understand. I was just suggesting! :D

Just got back from the hospital he's still the same, they have ashma meds in the ventulator now so hopefully that helps open his lungs up.

Right now the only animals I am keeping inside are the reptiles that are on tile and paper, the dogs(both have not ever bothered his allergies, one is hypo allergenic and the cocker spaniel bairly sheds), the cats(the only time he has an allergic reaction is when they bite or scratch, the old cat can be put down anytime it's doing noo good keeping him around) and the rodents will be switched to paper bedding and moved into my kids rooms(one of his worse allergies is to trees). I will keep the CWD around and see if her place is causing any dust issues, her soil stays damp all the time so that should not cause an issue. All the rabbits can move outside into the shed and the guinea pig is being picked up later today.

I'm cleaning the house like mad right now, going to vacuum the vents today and see if I can get rid of as much dust as I can. My road being a mud pit right now isn't going to help much though! I kept the kids home from school today and took the day off work.

Susan you probably have thought of this but you might have him get tested. Allergies can develop to things that were never an issue before.

I'm so sorry. Praying for his speedy recovery. I know your worried, but I've learned to stop, take a breather every now and then. I agree with Merlin though. I would have him tested.

He had allergy tests done, most of the bad ones where from plants, trees, grass etc. With it being spring now and the snow melting the snow mold is probley the main cause of this. Every spring he gets sick, last year he also had phenmonia but he was not in the ICU. He also smokes so that does not help his lungs at all. When he gets home i'm making him promise to never ever smoke again. Hopefully I can reduce the amount of allergins in the house and hopefully his lungs can heal.

Thank you all for your support! I'm trying to be strong for the kids and of course him :)

You ought to have him try the ecigarettes. I have an advanced one. It looks more like a pen than a cigarette. What you do is buy a kit. It'll have a charger, 2 batteries and tanks. You buy liquid pour it in the tank and smoke it. Different flavors with or without nicotine. No withdraw because your still getting nicotine, just not the 5000 other bad chemicals. Its called 'vaping'. Check out the ego kits with tanks on madvapes.com.

I bought an ego kit 4 weeks ago and haven't had a cigarette since after 30 years of smoking. I dont even smoke the ego anymore, its also cheaper, cost me $7.50-$10 (depending on where I bought the fluid from) every 2 weeks as opposed to $6 every 2-3 days for a pack of smokes. I hope he gets well fast, good luck and thinking of you guys.

He has the Vapur ones and uses them but not all the time.

Just got back from the hospital and still no change. They have contacted a specialist in Edmonton (big city about 4.5 hour drive south) and will see what they say. It is possible that he will have to be flown there. He is 38 years old... We should not be in this boat right now!!!
