all the places near me dont pet sit or will only do dogs and cats
Getting any animal is such a big responsibilty, and in some ways when it`s a reptile, even more so, because they need specialist care. I think if you make sure you fit new heat/lights so that they (hopefully), won`t fail while you`re away, the feeding/water etc isn`t too difficult, so long as the friend can be relied on to check everything.
This is just a thought,....could it be that your parents simply don't want anyone to come into your house to take care of the animal while they are away????.....if so, keep in mind that Leopard Geckos do not require a lot of space, and as Merlin Suggested...it should be fairly easy to simply move the entire cage over to someone else's home while you are away.......(personally, I think it is GREAT that you are thinking ahead for this, and that you are considering a pet small enough to just "move the cage elsewhere" for a brief time.)
my mate (who also has a gecko) has agreed to look after it wilst i am away as long as i do the same for his gecko
well that seems like a great trade off!
and your buddy has some experience so that is a bonus
