I've had a used aquarium given to me. It has under tank heater, bowl & mesh top. YaaaaY! However, this tank once housed local ring neck snakes for a short time a couple years ago. I heard that mites come from the outside & am concerened about how to clean this tank & insure that it is mite free. Any suggestions?

If it was a few years ago the odds are that there aren't any mites left but there could be bacteria still. Just use a watered down bleach solution and rinse thoroughly and that should do the trick.

    Thank you,
I thought that would be ok. I just don't want to start with a problem, since I may not notice until it was bad ... so great!

1 part bleach to 5 parts water and then rinse the daylights out of it.
