Start out with Styrofoam Sheets and cut out the sizes depending on you tank size. I did mine 10x10, 8x8, 6x6, 4x4, and 2x2. You glue the pieces together using liquid nails so it holds faster while you work with it. Them I put 4 coats of unsanded grout, last coat I added some black non toxic acrylic paint. I used some watered down black paint in a spray bottle to get it to the black I wanted it to be. I then took a brush and very little white paint to give it that old brick look. Once its all done I used 5 coats of Mod Podge sealer. After the last coat I put some sealer on the corners and sprinkled green colored sand as moss. Heres a website where you can learn all these. Theirs are WAY better than mine lol I couldnt get theirs right so I kinda did it mine own way.
