My big-eyed (Amani Forest) tree frog, Michigan, has been acting very wierd lately. He's perched himself on a piece of cork bark in his cage, and he is up on all fours like he is doing a push up. His body seems unusually round (it wasn't like that a couple of hours ago) and he keeps opening his mouth like he can't breathe. He also keeps using his front feet to wipe away some slime around his mouth, which then gets stuck to his feet so that he can't put them all the way down. He also seems fidgety or uncomfortable, and shrunk back when I opened his cage, which is very unusual. What could be wrong with the little guy?

our RETF was doing this one night and i was concerned as well. I was told that this is actually how they are shedding. And the gagging thing is normal.

Yep, he's just shedding. Feel lucky you got to see that :)

Okay, that makes me feel a little better... after I posted this he stopped, but I still kind of wondered what he was doing. It was cool and a little gross at the same time, but I'm glad I got to see it. :D
