I saw you got your new beardie!! How exciting. Haha you poor thing, now you've got two cages to build. I remember you saying you wanted to keep his name, what was it?
    2. Ashuresque
The only things I've kept for any amount of time were some tadpoles. There was this pond-y area behind the house that my dad was going to fill in, and it had these massive tadpoles in it. I felt bad for them so I set up a tank. Mom was convinced they'd die but soon enough they had little legs and stuff and hopped up on the land part! So I let them loose. I hope they had happy froggy lives. I found a neat yellow and black salamander once... I was so excited.

I'll have to have another dream about something else. That's coherent. We'll see how that goes...

Yeah, that was my second one. Not sure how long it is till the third, I think it's like 6 months or something like that.

I still wonder what they did with the baby snappers. At camp I assisted with marine science, one day the kids go and play in the muddy river finding little fish and stuff to put in temporary aquariums. Well they found two baby alligator snapping turtles... sooo cute. They set up a little more permanent thing for them, but I cant imagine they'll actually keep them for any length of time.

I had a really long, weird, detailed dream about vampires last night...

too bad stephanie meyer had it first.

bleh anything in my body freaks me out. Never had an iv or blood taken, because the idea of a needle in my vein freaks me out so much. >_< that gardisil or however it's spelled shot it the worst thing ever! You can actually feel the medicine going into your arm when the push the thing very clearly.

How long have you had the RES? They're mighty cute. How big of a tank will he need in the long run? A pond would be good, but I would worry about predators and other wildlife. :( Do winters get cold in alabama or is it relatively warm year round?
    6. Ashuresque
My doctor keeps countering with, would you rather have a little pinprick or HPV? but whatev. Still don't want to get jabbed with needles.

      good luck!
    7. Ashuresque
12 ounces I think. I was so upset. I'm sorry state of virginia for not having knowledge of alcohol levels!

Yeah, the yellow crookneck or whatever it's called. He seemed to like that but from what I hear winter squash varities are better? I don't know, I need to read up on my squash. Bleh, I hate going to the doctor, I have to go tomorrow for a shot. Most pet stores I've been to don't have a variety of feeders, usually just supers, meal worms, and crickets. One local one here carries phoenix worms, but they aren't a chain and specialize in reptile care to a degree.

Meal worms are kinda gross, but as far as I'm concerned it gets worse. I hate the way supers thrash around when you pick them up... and wax worms are like.. deflated. They're so squishy it's weird.

I totally failed my learners test the first time, by one question about how many ounces of beer was to a shot of whiskey. Seriously.

Have you tried any kinds of squash? Before I got fitzgerald I had no idea that zucchini was a squash, by the way. I'm still shocked. Every time I go to the store I try to pick up a different kind, I'm always amazed at the varieties. I just got my first superworms, they are sooo gross, I don't like them... I'd like to order some silkworms in bulk, but I'm a little worried on price.

lol, I'm excited for my permit, even though it's way off. So I totally understand. haha.

And she's eated turnip and mustard greens and parsley and sometimes celery, but not that often. I got an apple for her today that I'll get my mom to give her tomorrow.
And she ate crickets today, I haven't tried any other insects yet. I'm hoping to get some wax worms and silk worms.

17 18 in january, woop woop! I'm so excited, even if it's a ways off.

Good for her! What kind of greens did you try? At first I was doing all dandelions, which fitzgerald loved, but I realized my supply was going to dissapear anyway when it got to winter and tried to switch him. He refused to touch the collard and turnip greens for a while, but now he'll eat it. Is Rosie eating insects too?
    11. Ashuresque
These kids are 9 through 14, with the majority seeming to fall around 11 or 12. Some of them were real jerks though for kids, I was about to break out a can of whoop *** on them.

Fitzgerald eats daily- but you never know. How are you checking the temps? I think I saw somewhere that you had given her a bath, but try another warm one, being sure to keep her vent under the water. You might even try going to a nearby pet store and finding another kind of food and offering that too, as of now his staple is crickets but always gets really excited if I offer something new.
    12. Ashuresque
Sorry, I forgot to say I was leaving for a little while. I'm a 4H camp counselor, was busy herding children like cats for a few days.

Have you had any luck with the crickets, and has she been pooping regularly? Did you ever get her into a bigger container?
    13. graduationxday
      Oh cool. :]
Thank you for answering all my questions.
When I get a hognose I'll prolly be coming to you. Haha
    14. Benn-bmx
No i didnt get him online i got him from an advert on craiglist. I paid £70 for him and his whole set up.
    15. Benn-bmx
I keep the hognose in a 2'x1'x1.5' wooden viv. I use aspen as substrate and have all the water bowls and stuff you need. he is a very very docile and tame snake. He hiss's ALOT when you go to get him out but he is fine when out. i think this is the same with all hognose snakes.
I do enjoy keeping him and i think he is probably friendlier that my leos and my cornsnake
    16. Ashuresque
I saw you got some replies on the board, but I'd go with offering them daily. I usually make a salad of collards and a variety of squash, zucchini, and carrots two or three times a week. I think he liked the turnip greens more, so I may switch back to that. It's hard for me to really tell what he likes and doesn't like- some days he'll eat all his salad, somedays only about 1/3, but I usually offer the same things.

I'm running near the end of my 1,000 cricket order, and really, I'm sick of them. I'm considering switching to an all worm diet, but he's not quite big enough for superworms (I've seen them recommended for 16 inches+...) and there seems to be a mealworm shortage at every petstore in the world, so we'll see...
    17. graduationxday
How often should I feed her crickets?
I bought some today but I haven't fed her any yet.
She ate about half her salad yesterday, which had mustard greens, carrots, and bell peppers, and today she hasn't touched it.
It just had mustard greens today though...

lol I haven't had her long enough to try many different things. She ate everything from my hand yesterday but the carrots. So I'm led to believe she doesn't like them...
    18. Ashuresque
Haha I hand feed Fitzgerald crickets sometimes. Well, a lot of the time. He's on his own with the worms. Did she eat most of her greens? Lately I've been throwing a lot of different kinds of squash in, trying to figure out what he likes the most... oh the mind of a reptile
    19. graduationxday
Ohhhh goodness today Rose ate out of my hand!! It was awesome. lol. I love her to death.
I gave her some mustard greens, a bit of shredded carrot, and a little bit of orange bell pepper. She didn't like the carrots.. :/
But it was so awesome :]

      lol good luck with that
    20. Ashuresque
He was a surprisingly well cared for pet store find, so I'm not entirely sure how old he was there. I'm gonna guess about 7 months.

Haha nope! I've got however many I want with verizon and like 200 for other networks I think. Or at least I hope, I just started texting somebody with sprint, so we'll see when the bill comes in..
