Shedding! Or not>_O;

Well, Heebee started shedding last week, and, uh.. stopped. She's got most of her body shedded, nearly all of her tail, and a little strip over her ears. Her legs, her nose, and the rest of her, however, just don't seem interested. They're darkish, but they're not even loose. I tried soaking her (she doesn't like it :P ), rubbing some T-Rex Bio mist on her (she hates having it sprayed on her), and I keep the humidity up religiously.

I think she had shedding issues at the pet shop. If you look at this picture, taken about two weeks after I brought her home...

You can clearly see the little dark strip over her ears that came off. Maybe she shed unevenly? I think those bumps she had when I got her, also visible, may've been a side-effect, blahr. (I've got medication for them and they're going away.)

I'll try to get a picture for what she looks like now, but the spots she hasn't shed barely even seem loose, if at all. >_O

The shedding process can usually take up to 1-2 weeks. Most shed in sections, often one at a time. Just keep the humidity up, do regular soakings and misting and soon he will be back to normal his normal beautiful color.

Oh good, it can take _two_ weeks?! Excellent! I thought it only took one, and if it was taking more than that it was trouble. Whew... she's been shedding for about a week.

I do hope she finishes though. Because I have about one week before I leave for Flordia for a week... And then once I get back maybe three days before I go to New Zealand for two weeks, and ag9ragha, shed litlte lizard._.

Also, should I give her those daily soaks? She doesn't seem to like them very much, and I don't want to stress her out. She goes into her pool on her own, but doesn't seem to stay there too long.. I try to keep it warm and clean, too.

Hello,

If her humidity in the enclosure is consistent and high, she will be fine. The misting is also a good idea. If she can go into a "pool" at any given point, there is no need to soak her if she uses it.

When you are gone, is the person caring for your herps going to mist daily and make sure the humidity is adequate?

Rich, thanks.

Yes he is. I'm leaving him very detailed instructions. He's never had herps before, but he's taken excellent care of fish, has a great love of animals, and I'm instructing him and leaving him lots of reference in addition to the guide I'm writing up for him.

I'll leave though right when the third week of shedding starts.(If she doesn't finish by then, I mean..)

my Chinese Water Dragon's take about 5-8 days to shed completely, and even then I rub some baby oil on the base of their tails, on their feet, and behind their ears to help their shed. I also spray the biomist about once daily even when they're not going through shed. It seems to really help with the brilliance of their colors.
