Food question..

Scarlett has always been a picky eater.
I got her when she was 9 inches snout to tail... and had to hand feed her crickets. For a while she was ok on crickets but wouldn't eat anything else.
Recently I tried her on mealworms and SHE LOOVED them. THen she wouldn't eat the crickets. So I ordered a big thing of mealworms and wax worms (to use as a treat). But NOW, she wants ONLY wax worms.. she'll pick at the mealworms but only when desperate.
Today I ordered silk worms and butter worms..

Do you guys think she'll be ok nutritionally eating a mix of those?
Any other suggestions??
She's costing me a FORTUNE with this picky eating!!

Water Dragons are the most pickey eaters ever when they are young. Since youve got her hooked on so many fattening bugs its gonna be even harder to get her back onto her normal feeding habbits. Too many of the worms you listed above can cause fatty liver disease...youre gonna want to lay off the waxies, silkies and butters for a couple of weeks, once she gets hungry enough she will go back on crix and mealies. Once this happens only give her waxies and such once every 2 weeks and only in 2s and 3s at a time. This will provide her with a balanced diet.

That was the original idea... to have her going with the crix and mealies with a supplement of the yummy junk food. I never give her more than 2 of the wax worms at a time..
When will she break out of her rebellious "picky eater" stage!

Why Waxies? Are waxies healthier then the rest of the junk foods? Crickets are going to be Skittles junk food just because it'll be fun for him I think.

No waxies are not the healthiest, they have the hiighest fat content. Crickets as a junk food for Leopard Geckos isnt a good idea, crickets and mealies need ot be a staple in the Leopard Geckos diet..junk food are bugs like waxies and butters because of their high fat content, like cookies for us basically.

Aren't silkworms some of the better feeders to use?

Anyway, it's as Savannah said, you should have crickets be the staple of the diet, with mealworms in there too (crickets are a little better than mealworms from what I know), waxworms and butterworms should only be fed in moderation.

Also, you can try to give your Chinese Water Dragon some sweet potatoes or yellow squash(baby food style is ok) and earthworms are good for treats as well as long as you make sure that they are farm raised for being feeders.

I've been researching and have heard that mealworms are healthier...but I could be wrong. That's what I ment from switching from meal to crickets every now and then...Wasn't planning on getting any junk food but maybe it's a good idea? What's the healthiest junk food?

I prefer crickets because they have less chance of impact than mealworms as they are not as easy to digest. My crested geckos can't really even eat mealworms easily because they can't bite hard enough and if they don't kill the worm it can kill them.

You should feed crix as a staple...not mealies. Mealies are harder to digest and arnt as nutritional. All the bugs stated abover are good "junk food".
