my larger Chinese Water Dragon has a puffy right eye looks like the top eyelid is turning black
any suggestions I want to take him to the vet but our vet doesn't do lizards I have to travel for 2 hours to see one that will ill go on thursday as it is my next day off

Depending the substrate you are useing, he could have a piece of it in his eye..he also could have scratch it on something in the tank. Hate to say it, but I would take a road trip to the vet. Do you have a seperate tank or something to put him in to make him comfy and warm,,with paper towels or newspaper until you can get him there.

What type of substrate are you using? It sounds like an eye infection to me, but also like he messed up his eyelid...is there any type of discharge from the eye? Or is the only thing thats wrong is the swelling?

its just the swelling like he hit it on somthing
im using peat moss as a substrate
theres no discharge and yea I have him in my spare tank on paper towel and its nice and warm there

You should bring him to the vet just incase of an infection

ill monitor it and take him to the local vet for a diagnosis and have him sent to vernon like they do with the dogs that go for surgery

I would take him off of the particulate substrate until you have a diagnosis as well. its always better safe than sorry. If you feel comfortable you could try to flush the eye with a saline solution...but only if you have experice with something that delecate.

the vet said it was probably particulate in the eye as I flushed him with saline and its back to normal I took him to the vet any ways as he ran into the glass and bruised his nose chasing a cricket he is fine and happily playfull now Thanks for the help and osiris is a male isis is a female I found that out too
