Feeding question
I know that a lot of you can get your CWDs to eat outside the enclosure, is there any tips to get them to do this. It seems that mine just plain old refuse to eat anywhere but in their enclosure and I'd rather them eat somewhere else so the crickets don't escape and I won't have to track them down and catch them. Anyone know how to get them to eat either by hand or by some other means?

I used feeding tweezers, which worked rather well, once they learn that the tweezers have food on them they will accociate the tweezers with feeding time, from then on you can try tweezer feedings outside of the cage, then eventually hand feedings. You could also use a feeding box. Also try using their favorite foods on the tweezers at first, waxies, butter worms and mealies Ive found to be favorites. And at first if they dont eat off the tweezers, put the food item infront of them and allow them to see it, then pick it up with the tweezers, they will eventually take it from the tweezers, do this a few times a day...hope that helped.

is there any reason in pareticular why you want to feed outside your enclosure? I'm just curious because I had two WD that were fed in the same enclosure they lived in for life.
Do you put them into another tank to feed then? Good luck with it I hope everything goes well for you!

I hand fed all of my Water Dragons, just because it was easier for me to keep track of how much they ate everyday. Plus I didnt want them ingesting the substrate I kept them on (peat moss and green moss). Also you dont have to worry about crix loose in the enclosure.

I was thinking about putting them on more natural substrate like peat moss or something like that and I know that if I did that I'd have to feed them outside the enclosure. Also if I can get them to eat from my hand and to figure out that what I give them is food then maybe I can get them to eat pinkies.
