Eating Poop

Why does my WD sometimes eat her Poop.Her water is changed daily and any poop removed when spotted but I have noticed on occasion she will eat the offending poop if I dont get to it in time.

Mine does that too sometimes, it's so annoying but I think that they mistake it for a cricket, though it seems like they go for it more than they do crickets.

It's called Coprophagy. It is not uncommom in iguanas-especially young ones. Not so sure with waterdragons.

My male WD will go after anything that resembles food...especially his poo lol...just be sure to change the water everyday and spot clean..its the only way to avoid it

Spew, mine just did this today >_O; No way I could have stopped her eithe,r really, as she'd only pooped about a minute before. Glad to see it's, er, "normal"...hope she doesn't get sick. Can't imagine that it's too healthy =p

That is unless they are carrying parasites. Most internal parasites shed their eggs in feces. By eating the feces they are actually injesting more parasites.
