WWYD What would you do?
Okay it looks like my house is about to be disbanded, my roomate/friend is moving out with his girlfriend, his little sister is going back south, and my cousin/roomate is getting a new place with me. My little Pez is beginning to out grow her enclosure and I was going to finish building my enclosure this half of the month, however with the upcoming move space is a question. I'm sure the living room is going to be used more as a dnd room than a living room so I'm sure I'll get a 6'x6' space there. So my question is with space becoming an unknown come June should I just use a converted trash bin (great shape for aboreals) or should I go ahead and build the 6'x6'x2' enclosure I have in mind?

I'm not sure what you mean by a converted trash bin. Do you have a pic of what you're talking about?

i'd goto the place that I was planning on moving into, discuss it with my roommate, and with him, plan out a good location for it depending on the shape of the room and other features of the apartment. i would measure the sizes and locations of all the doors and hallways to go threw to get the tank in, as well as the sizes of the windows and thier location in comparison to where you want the tank. also make sure you'll be able to fit it around any bends on the way to where you want it. it'd suck to build it all now and find it wont fit into the apartment because the entrence doorway is against a hallway and the tank is too long to make the turn, or if its too long to make a turn in a bending staircase upto the apartment if its on the 2nd floor.
when planning to build my viv, i designed it to be as big as it could be while still being able to get it INTO my room and still haveing space in my room. i took measurements of the doors, halls, my window, and the room itself to see how big the viv could be while still allowing enough space for my bed, burough, and entertainment center. the widest entryway was my window which is a foot wider then my door. but the window limits the height. so I am making the viv modular as 4 pieces that will be stacked once brought into the room. after removing the window panes, it'll be somewhat easy to bring in each piece threw my window. end result was making it so its wide enough and long enough to suit my desire for something big, but not too wide to cramp everything else and limit space and movement in the room. if the tank is going to be holding an excessive amount of weight, the floor strength should be takin into account too. my viv will be holding over 1200 lbs of dirt etc, so I will have positioned it right over a large beam running the length of the house and parallel with the viv and against a load baring wall. i will be adding extra supports undernieth the beam aswell.

yeesh, big viv. Nope sorry no pics until I finish the camera off. The bin is a 50 gal trash bin you can get at most DIYs and Walmart, but since the move isn't going to happen now as I found some alternate dsl and satalite suppliers and the little sister is going to stay with us and add some money to the pool. I'm glad she's not going she has an addictive personality and would be heading right back to the drugs she needs to stay away from.
