And my apologies, my indignant side got the better of me for a minute... I really hope Lee gets better, sweetie. Keeping my fingers crossed for you both.

Well I spoke to the vet and Lee is staying over night in an incubator and being tube fed. I am sure he will help me out with a letter to Petco because his assistant was telling me how much they can't stand Petco and how the dr has written articles against them.

Go after them for whatever expenses Lee's illness did or will incur, and for a refund of what you paid for him. They had no right to sell you a sick animal. And hopefully a full belly and the warmth of the incubator will help to bring him around.

LOL I'm sending my boyfriend after them. He's intimidating on a good day and he's ticked as heck that I am racking up vet bills on my credit card. I'll just send him in and hide behind him.

Savannah, hey? Bout time I picked up your actual name! LOL!
And don't even TALK to me about it... There's a store in our vicinity that was originally a fairly reputable source for herps, but has gone sadly downhill... members of our local herp community are now looking at SPCA action, and trying to figure out how we might help with the 100+ exotics that will need rehoming when/if they shut it down... Dirty enclosures, skinny animals, and a very limited number of herpers in the area who would be capable of fostering... Don't be surprised if I send out a call for adoptions in the warm months!

Dperlis, I'm so sorry to hear about Leezard. I hope he gets better with the vet care and we are all rooting that he is home with you soon to live a good life with his mum
I completely agree with Dee - you should definitely demand that the store refunds your money and pays for the vet bills, though I wouldn't be returning Lee there. I would actually go one step further and get the money then report them. Obviously being in the UK I have no experience of this Petco, but I seem to read so many horrific stories on here. They need shutting down and someone needs to take the stand against them. I know it's difficult, but apart from that I would stay well away from this store - buying anything, even dry goods, from them will just encourage them to continue selling reptiles and it's clear that they shouldn't be doing.
Here in the UK we are facing strong opposition from the extreme animal rights activists about our hobby - they want a ban on reptile shows and a ban on keeping reptiles as pets. Our SPCA are among these people, and it is because, sadly, they see so many cases like your Petco, and don't understand that many people have the right knowledge and compassion to care for these animals properly. Even so, if I see a pet shop mistreating or neglecting reptiles I will report them.
Good luck and please keep us updated on Lee - I hope he pulls through for you.

"He's alive" that's all I am getting for updates! GRRR! I've called twice so far today and spoken to the lady that answers the phone. All she can tell me is that he's alive and being tube fed and they are going to soak him in a bath in a few minutes. Um. OK. What's wrong with him?? Answers people answers!!!! I guess he is spending the night there again in the incubator. I might stop by there later in the day to see if I can get an actual answer from the dr as to what is going on with him.

Dperlis, I don't think I read any introduction threads on this... what happened with Leezard originally? i.e.; where did you get him from; what were his conditions and so on..?
Try not to worry too much, I know it's hard but I'm sure the vets are doing all they can for him. At this stage no news is good news, but we are still thinking of you and the little guy.
