Sorry about your misguided information received. One thing you really cant do is take advice from chain stores (not sure where you got yours). Best advice is to always research before you buy . Hopefully now you have a good start on info to make your dragon happy and healty.

yup "lowest maintenance" I even asked for a snake. I told them flat out it was for a 3 yo. Yes I know a 3 yo can't care for any pet but you get the drift.

Lol, hey..when I was 3 I had a bird...and it flew away...and I cried...The hardest part about owning Wd is there constant need for attention...Well wiht my experience it is, once you get the lighting/encolsure down youll see they need/want alot of attention...especially where you are hand feeding the buggar..once you do that you have a friend for life!

Totally understanding the pet for a 3yo bit, and please do go smack the salesperson who told you that! (Or at least, make a complaint to the management.) We have a 2yo who adores our animals, some of his earliest words were "gek-ko" and "tuh-toh" (turtle for those of you who don't have the hang of toddlerese lol.) It's the enrichment factor at that age, the responsibility thing comes later!

oh yeah my son was terrified of reptiles - thanks to his dad. But now he loves to touch Leezard and loves to feed him. When we go out he immediately runs over and tells Leezard about his day. so Leezard served his purpose I suppose I owe it to him to keep him alive.
