Shedding problems...
I purchased both of my water dragons from Petco, a mistake I won't make again. My problem is that one of them seems to have a shedding problem because there is dead skin on it's leg that hasn't come off since I've gotten it. I've even tried to help it along by removing skin that could easily be taken off without injuring the animal. My consern is that the skin that is on her legs might be cutting off circulation to her toes and then may cause her to lose them. Does anyone know any tricks to getting this off safely or do I have to take it to the vet, or should I just wait to see if it comes off by itself?
If anyone has any information on how to help it with this problem it would be appreciated. By the way I spray the cage to keep it humid at least twice a day but mostly three to four times a day I keep live plants in to help with humidity and a good basking light to keep it warm. Is there anything else to be done?

have you tried a shedding aid? i find occasionally b'il has the same problem, and I have to counter with long soaks in a warm tub (like, 20 minutes at a time), and the shed aid.
btw, welcome to HC!

Soaking is the easiest way to aide on shedding that is stuck...but, here is a link to Tricia's site, best info on water dragons.
http://www.triciaswaterdragon.com/shedding.htm
The link will also give humidity info/percentages to insure you have to appropriate amount.

There is a difference between grey skin that from a previous shed and a retained shed. A retained shed will be dead skin that clings to the new skin but there is also older skin that does not come off with a previous shed. For example Pooka just shed everything but the top of her head and around one eye. The skin there isa gery green color and it very obvious when she truns a darker color. This kind of old skin should not pose a problem and will likly begin to peel when its ready to shed. Retained shed will be an obviously seperate section of skin that is left behind from an old shed. A retained shed is the dangerous one that can constrict toes and spikes. Regular soaking and a vigilant eye will keep the toes on your little ones. Good luck

My little lizards feet are already starting to look better. Thanks for the advice everyone. I was wondering, how many times a day should I soak her in the shedding aid?

i give mine warm baths. or lately ive been letting my liz hang in the shower with me on the floor. she gets clean(ill put a little soap on her and wash it off) plus the warm steam is great for their skin. shedding aids work well too, and they make them smell good. also, if for some reason a nail falls off. yes, it is not a good thing. but most likely it will grow back. i had the same problem when I first got her and hers grew back really soon.
