chinese water dragon

Hi I want to know what size tank a water dragon needs to be happy. I seen one in the pet store and the lady said that it could live in a 10 gal. tank.

It could live in a ten gallon as a hatchling and not for long. You'll need something much bigger. Take a look here. I would trust this site much more than any pet store employee.

Hi Thanks for the help. I really want to get a herp but I can clearly see that a water dragon is not for me. I think I'll get a tree frog for now. Anyway thanks a bunch.

Yeah, water dragons are neat, but definately not a beginner species, or a species for someone with little room. What sort of tree frog are you interested in?

marktimins,

Why dont you post a welcome in General Community "Introduce Yourself" and tell us about your self. Might get some suggestions on a good first herp!

It's really nice to see someone asking questions and doing some research before getting a herp (not saying that *most* people *here* don't do that, just that there are a lot out there who don't). Water dragons can be difficult pets- they are beautiful but can get sick very easily, not as hardy as some other popular herps. As Steven suggested post an introduction and the members here can try to help you figure out what kind of tree frog or other herp might suite you best.
