got a big scare today!

whew, i was scared for a while there today. I let Bi'l loose in my house today, as i've been doing for a while now (blocking off anywhere he could get hurt or get under/behind and dissappear). my sister and I were watching tv for a bit while he was out, and taking turns checking up on him, to make sure he wasn't getting into any trouble, and to make sure he stayed warm. well, when I went to put him away (he'd been out for about 30 minutes by this point), i couldn't find him anywhere! we searched the entire house. I was frantic, and starting to panic!! after about 20 minutes of searching, my sister found him. he had gotten into the bathroom, and climbed up the inside of the shower curtain, about 6 feet off the ground in a fold, so he wasn't easily seen. gave him a short soak in a warm-ish bath, the put him back in his cage to warm up and eat. he's doing good though, despite my scare! but I don't think i'll let him have that big of a roaming area again for awhle, just in case. i never want to go through that again! i can't imagine what some of the members here have gone through, losing snakes and lizards for DAYS at a time! yikes!

Whew! Glad you found him! What a scare!!!!
Isn't it amazing how quickly and silently herps can disappear?!
I never let my snakes out of my sight when they're out... too precious to lose!

That is a very scary feeling. Happy you found him. Not all herps are silent, Fireball would hiss at you if you come near him.

Glad you found him!
Are you planning on getting him/her a mate? I think they're kind of social animals.

i am definately looking to find him a mate. I've been watching my local pet shops for females, but I haven't found any yet, male or female. so as soon as I find one, i plan on picking it up, even though Bi'l isn't old enough to mate yet.

thank goodness you found him. The feeling that something you love may be lost is horrible. Good luck finding a female. I looked for a Male WD for a long time before I got lucky enough to go into a store that had just purchased an adult male from a customer, unfortunatley he isn't friendly with my female so they don't live together.

Anyway hope you find one soon. Take care
