New Member!
Hey everybody, I'm a new member to this forum so I thought I would say Hi!
I have a Water Dragon who is approximately 9 months old called Hanzo. I love him, he's a great pet but I have one question/query that I have yet to find an answer to. Everytime I clean out my Dragon's tank, or sometimes just randomly, he goes round the things in his tank (branches, etc) and licks them. All I can guess is that it is a way of marking his territory, like scent marking?! But I haven't heard any mention of this anywhere else and just wondered if anyone else has noticed this behaviour in their dragon and if it is anything to worry about. Hi again! Margaret |

Hi and welcome to HC. when you clean his tank do you rearrange the contents ?? if you do he might think it's a completely new environment,,hence the licking or territorial marking.

Yeah, I do move things about, I suppose I want to give him some variety!
It is also quite a small tank so it feels more important to change it, I'm getting a bigger set-up next month so I probably wont change it too much once it's bigger. He doesn't seem distressed with it or anything, he seems to like going around the tank and doing it so I suppose it must be okay. Thanks for the article too, I noticed that on Trisha's Water Dragon website, which I've used for quite alot of info. Thanks again, Margaret |
