Check and make sure its a thermostat and not a rheostat. Zoo med makes both. All I have seen at Petsmart are the rheostats.
A rheostat is like a lamp dimmer. It only turns the eat up and down but does not regulate the temps like a thermostat. If the temperature in the room goes up or down you have to go back and fiddle with the rheostat, A thermostat handles it automatically.

Re: Breathing Problems?
I thought my Australian water dragons were having breathing problems, my 2 big ones. I had a panic attack and kept an eye on them for 24 hours to see how they go. I went to bed woke up the next morning and they were fine. To my suprise I found they both had laid eggs. Giz had laid 5 (infertile) and Juvy had lad 14 (fertile) and they are both fine and healthy now. No more breathing problems but it is a scary thing to encounter.

Re: Breathing Problems?
I can't really tell if he's having trouble breathing or not. He's been doing it since I got him and the vet told me it was normal. He just opens his mouth now and then like he's smiling or something. His temps are good, he eats like a madman. And he is never lethargic so I don't know.

Re: Breathing Problems?
Back when I had CWDs mine encountered the same thing. It was a RI (respiratory infection). Got her over it by bumping the temp up on one side to the maximum temp they should have while I can't remember if I had to lower the humidity or raise it. (I think I had to lower it actually...check on that)
If your dragon is showing signs of distress such as brownness that should be a good indicator of it's health. If it's eating great, it's color is right and acting normal aside from the gaping it's hard to tell if something IS actually wrong or not.

Re: Breathing Problems?
He is not really brown, but a dark green and light green mix on his upper body. His tail is beautiful looking but he just shed that so I'm waiting to see if he sheds his upper half soon.

Re: Breathing Problems?
Yea no mucus and I haven't had him out of his tank in a few days so I haven't got a chance to hear anything but I know he doesn't wheeze or show signs of trouble breathing. His temps are good and I'm not sure what else would cause a respiratory infection. My reptile vet is only there on Thursdays and I don't know when I will be able to get over there. All in all he appears to be extremely healthy and happy.
