I have a female 3 yr old Chinese Water Dragon and have been feeding it crickets, meal worms and phoenix worms that I order from Mulberry Farms. Gets very expensive though. I was wondering is it safe for me to get crickets and meal worms from a bait shop, I know they are not gut loaded but if I feed the crickets the cricket food is that good enough. The reason I am asking is because we ran out of crickets and my order will not be here till Wednesday and my water dragan is really wanting some crickets bad.......!!!!!

I have fed my Dragon crickets from the baitshop as a last resort one time(was visiting mom out in the boonies for a week and had to bring my Dragon). I put them in a plastic container with tons of different friut/veggies and let them eat for 2 days....then fed my Dragon.

But with stuff from that baitshop who knows if it's raised to be sanitary at all because they are just for fishing.......

There are other cheaper cricket places to buy from online I'm sure....depending on where you live. How many crickets do you order at a time?

Ah, the old bait shop question...

No one can really answer if bait shop crickets are the same crickets as those in pet stores. Best thing to do is to ask the bait shop owner.

The bait shops are most likely getting their crickets from the same cricket suppliers that you order from online. The problem is the way that they are kept. Since they are intended for fishing bait the bait shops arent too worried about them.
And some bait shops are pretty nasty places!
