Quick question
Hey, Its been quite a while sence I've posted,
My Chinese Water Dragon emiko has had a light brown patch on her back as long as I've owned her, could this be a bad thing or could it just be a discolored portion of her shed, It has taken till just recently, about 4 months for her first good section of shed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

How long have you owned her? Sounds like just a brown patch, just like you said. I've got a leopard frog with a yellow spot on his nose. Kinda the same thing. It's not thicker or textured different or drier than the rest of her, is it?

well
it looks a little flakey, but it really doesn't have much of a texture difference, I almost wonder if it could be just an overly dry patch of skin. I've had emiko about 4 mos. and until just recently she hadn't shed much. I am about to use a shed aid to see if that helps, I personally think that while in the pet store she had a bad shed.
Emiko is my first big lizard, (over 7 inches total)so i'm not so used to larger lizard sheddings

If its kinda flakey then I think you're probably right. I've seen sheds that looked like that.

well
I can't post a pic, it would take about a week even if I had film, I haven't a digital camera. Tonight I'm going to give the shed aid a try I will have to post after I'm done.

Wow
Well, I used the shed aid, and the discoloration disappeared. It wasn't a full success, the extra shed didn't fully come up,(I think thats my fault, I don't think I soaked the lizard in the shed aid long enough.) The patch has definitely improved, and the amount of retained shed has thinned, and become thinner "sheets" of slough. The lizard was very hydrated, and ultra clean. I'm going to give another try this weekend, and I think It'll clear the rest of the way.
