Re: Feeding
First question, when she "plays dead" are you holding her upside down?
As far as getting her to eat, it make take a few days for her to feel comfortable enough to eat. Try to leave her be and let her get accustomed to her new space. Leave the food in the cage for her and once she feels comfortable she should eat.

Re: Feeding
Welcome to HC!
First off, please read our caresheet. It's full of tons of useful info about water dragons. Chinese Water Dragon Caresheet (Physignathus cocincinus) - Reptile Information - Caresheets Database You shouldn't be worried about feeding or holding her at all at this point. She's really scared because she's in a new place. She's going to need at least a week to settle in, sometimes longer. If you keep wanting to pick her up and feed her, you're making it harder for her to settle in, and prolonging her adjustment period. Leave her alone. To her, you are a predator and she doesn't know that you aren't going to hurt her. She needs her time to get used to things. It's like if you were in a house, then suddenly some huge creature takes the roof off your house, and picks you up wanting to play with you or feed you. You'd be pretty scared too. Make sure her temps, humidity, etc are all correct. Good luck! ![]()

Re: Feeding
Yup...she needs to "de-stress". Let her get used to a routine. Talk to her while your cleaning, feeding, etc. Let her get used to you. Once she has a little time - then you can start the socializing process. Give it time. Before to long you'll have a very personable little lizard. WDs are one of the easier ones to get that way...
