We have had our water dragon for about a month. I have had no luck getting him to eat anything but crickets . He will not touch any greens, fruit or meal worms. I have gotten him to eat 2 feeder fish but thats it. I found a earth worm over the weekend outside and thought I would give it a try. He loved it. I need to find out where to get earth worms now. As I don't want to continue to give him things from outside. Any help would be greatly apprecieted. I only have 2 store that sell crickets and they are 30 minutes away and dont carry earth worms. Thanks in advance

any bait shop carries earthworms, including walmart in the fishing section.

I read not to get them from a bait shop because of risk of contamination as they are meant for just bait. Have you had a problem getting them from a bait shop? If this is my option I will do so. Thanks.

You could order red wrigglers online and set up your own worm bin. That way you could compost your kitchen scraps and grow healthy worms all at once!

You could find other directions online, too, or buy a ready-made worm bin if you have the budget for that.

Not necessarily cheap, but once you get the bin set up, they will breed and you hopefully won't have to buy any more.

I would NOT buy any feeder insects from a bait shop. These insects are raised solely to attract fish, not to provide nutrition to an animal. They could carry parasites and who knows what else. It is not worth the risk in my opinion.

Getting earthworms from outside is a risk as well. The worms travel and could have possibly traveled through pesticide contaminated areas.

You can also breed your own earthworms so that you do not have to always buy them.

Oh, just a warning: be sure the feeder fish you feed to your dragon are raised in good conditions. Feeder fish kept in dirty, crowded conditions are more likely to carry parasites.

is that a myth? Has anyone actually had an earth worm kill their reptile? Its the EXACT same container at Petco as is at Dicks sporting goods.
