IF, I decide to separate my basilisk and water dragon is it too late to get them a buddy of the same species. They are both around 1 1/2.

Re: New Partner

They really don't need or want "buddies." Reptiles are solitary creatures and don't need or want companions like humans. In the wild they don't "hang out" together except as juveniles (safety in numbers) and for mating.

I would just separate, they would probably both benefit.

Re: New Partner

Totally agree with Liz. They dont need companionship.. Sometimes it just stresses them out. Not to mention when you add one to the existing enclosure, you will territorial issues and then will need to increase the space anyway.

Re: New Partner

First off you need to make sure you will have homes for the babies and do your research.

After you find homes/a seller for your potential babies, you would have to build a separate enclosure. Put them together for a limited time, then separate.

You would also need an incubator for the eggs.

Re: New Partner

I agree that it would be beneficial to seperate them, as for breeding, Do you plan on breeding for profit? Because you want more basilisks? Just because?
