Re: Water Heaters

Your safest bet would probaly be a Aquarium water heater, if it does'nt electrocute fish, i dont see it electrocuting herps, but only use the shatterproof versions, there usualy plastic instead of glass. I have one in my Jaguar Cichlids tank and there great.
I'm not sure how hot they get to the surface though, but you may also have to build some kind of cage to keep your guys from touching it.

Re: Water Heaters

We use this only
Product Catalog
gets around 78degress upto 80 ive seen. Its plastic and snaps apart specifically designed for reptiles. We use it in a kitty litter box and from what ive seen it doesnt need to be in a cage aslong as its in the plastic it should be ok. We had it break once(aka not heat up) but the company was very good about replacing it.

Re: Water Heaters

Ryan, you don't have to worry about it getting too hot. My Pleco sticks to it all the time.

Re: Water Heaters

Thats what I was sorta thinking, i know ive had fish that like to get right up next to it, but im curious if they develop hot spots (like a heat rock), i'd be worried a reptile might sit up against it for the heat and get minor location burns.
