Male or Female???

Ok...first off, I am new...so if I screw up...be gentle. I want to find out if I have my sexes mixed up. Both Drago and Cassie are about a year old. In my reading, I was told that the male spikes were bigger than the females. Well, Drago has shorter spikes than Cassie. Advice?

Re: Male or Female???

It does look like you may have it backwards, but I am no expert. Cassie does seem to have more masculine features though.

Re: Male or Female???

OMG! lol They are backwards! Didn't want to pick Cassie up because he is shedding, but he definitely has the femoral pore lines. Hadn't checked in a while, cuz I thought I had their sexes accurate. What age do they get those? I was told when I bought them in July of 2007 that they were just a few months old. I am thinking that my dragons are older than I thought. Drago measures 18" (nose to tail) and 6" (nose to base). Cassie did not feel like getting measured today...lol He is a little shorter. Thanks for the insight my friends! Gonna be weird thinking that they are the opposite genders...lol

Re: Male or Female???

The dragon on the left is definitely a male. The dragon on the right looks more female, but I would not rule out male using only the spikes if they just hit 18 inches - some males are "late bloomers".

A more accurate way to tell is by the femoral pores and "tail bumps". Maybe this will help:

Male:

Female:

Also, males have two "tail bumps" UNDER (not over) the vent on the tail. Both sexes have two bumps over the vent on the body.
