Re: How cold at night?*pictures*

it may be the same if they are on their side, but I know for sure that if you hold a Chinese Water Dragon on its back, they "fall asleep". This actually used to be a trick that the girl that TRAINED me at PetSmart showed me... (I quickly had to explain to her that it really wasn't a good idea) But the reason they appear to fall asleep is that they are actually passing out. The pressure on their lungs makes them hypoxic and they lose consciousness from lack of oxygen.

Re: How cold at night?*pictures*

well...i did the "rescue" from the local petsmart, its where she picked up her parasites and maybee the snout damage. I purchased her in mid september, and she looks pretty much the same since I bought her. I thought it was a male just by how neurotic and fiesty she was. Shes never gotten used to my presence like my other female(Chinese Water Dragon) iggy, i open the door to the cage quite a bit and if shes on the leaves by the top, shell drop off and run into the corner...Im excited today to actually see her spending much more time on the surface of the plants.....But I can see snout damage...i wonder why the vet didnt notice that whenever I brought her around 12 days ago..

Re: How cold at night?*pictures*

it looks like old snout damage, and there isn't much you can do about that, so there really isn't anything the vet would say. One of the people on the board has an Ig with such severe snout damage it can't shut its mouth.

If its bleeding and infected, you can put neosporin on it. But it looks like its all healed.

oh, and when you build your final enclosure, put a few layers of plastic tarp down and you can plant those plants right into the bottom.

Re: How cold at night?*pictures*

thatss exxacccltyyy what I want!!!! And I have a dead plant in the back that I got from home depot(which I suggest everyont to buy their plants from) and it comes with a year guarantee and if for any reason it dies I can bring the receipt back and I can get a new one. So I have threee plants that I can plant, and I need to look into bonsai trees, because I think one of those would be pretty cool

Think about some plants to hang from the top too. Pothos do really well!

Re: How cold at night?*pictures*

I wanted bonsais because I found some online that produces fruit...and I really wanted to get the water dragons to eat the fruit off the tree...But whoo knows if that is even possible. Pretty expensive bonsai too like 120 or 150

Re: How cold at night?*pictures*

yeah, i wouldn't spend that for an enclosure, where the inhabitant might decide to destroy it! Think nice big branches and lots of potted plants hanging around. I saw this one enclosure that was beautiful on Tricia's water dragon pages. Made me want to have a Chinese Water Dragon just for it. LOL

You can actually create your own bonsai much cheaper that buying one that is aready "trained". Just pick you up some small leaved ficus and start trimming! They respond to bonsai techniques really well and are very easy to shape either by wire or by trimming.

Re: How cold at night?*pictures*

when you make yours, think height and how to get the most out of it. They love to climb.
