Re: humidity probs

ok, here is a very basic sketch that I hope will show what i'm talking about. Pretty much the only part that has the screen cut out, would be for where the ballast(s) is. Cover mesh that doesn't have ballast with plexi. This will keep the moisture and crickets in. I read you have a seperate fixture for a basking light, so cut that area out too.

And I didn't illustrate putting the chicken wire down. You may want to connect the wire to the ballast/fixture, might make moving stuff easier and it will keep your guy from burning himself. Or you could make it cover the whole mesh top to give everyhting more support.

i have my heat bulb half over land and half over water
I was just reading over through the thread and I came across this part and it didn't sound right to me. When I was setting up the enclosure for my water dragon I was told that I should put the heat lamp on one side of the cage in the basking area so my wd would be able to retreat to the other side of the cage to cool down. Is that wrong or is your enclosure long enough that he has a place on either side to cool down?

Re: humidity probs

i happened to be at Home Depot and saw the light fixture you have with the aluminum. You should have room to make either the front half or the back half plexi to keep the moisture in. Remember, back or front half, not left or right half. Nice fixture BTW. It's tough looking!

i have a reptisun 10.0 and a plane fluorecent just for added light
You (and your dragon) would be much better off to use 2 UVB tubes. I know they are pricey and you can get them online a lot cheaper thatn at thepetstore. The regular flourescent is basically a waste.

Exactly correct.

Re: humidity probs

thanks for all the advice schlegelbagel, my computer shut down and never turned back on right as I was uploading the pictures of my light setup!

merlin
i realize it is useless having the regular fluorecent light but I had it sitting there so decided just to pop it in.....and I would buy a second bulb in a heartbeat but this setup is not going to be around for long and when I build the bigger enclosure I think I am leaning more towards MV bulbs
