    Re: fishing worms????????

I'm a little confused by your two posts...

But to answer your original question. Yes, you can feed them earthworms, but they probably won't eat it. Mine ate one once, and wouldn't eat anything after that for almost two days. It took me a lot of coaxing to get him to eat his normal food after that, and I never tried the earthworms again.

    I am confused as well...

As with any prey item i'd make sure to gutload it first.

If you feed them right out of the dirt. I would think they would have a lot of soil in them. Might be better to put them in a container of mulched veggies and as Lacey said gutload them.

LOL! In the first post the wording asked if WE would feed his WD earthworms!

I don't know that I would trust the worms sold as fishbait.
Since they were never intended as feeders for pets who knows what they are crawling around in!

It's no problem. It's just a little confusing.

After you make any post, you can actually edit it. If you look at the bottom of the post, there's a little button there that says, "edit", which allows you to go back inside that post and fix any mistakes. It's a great feature which I use a LOT. And I know if I'm asking a question, the clearer I can be, the better the answers I get back.

    Hope that helps.

    Re: fishing worms????????

we feed our WD earthworms all the time. Ours is a little special (he was a rescu so at 4yrs old he is 18in long and will never get any bigger), he isn't fast enough to eat crickets, completely ignors them as a matter of fact, so he gets mealworms and nightcrawlers, they are one of his favorites. He slurps them down like spagetti We have finally gotten him to eat the meal worms out of a bowl, so we don't have to hand feed him everyday. I always rinse off the worms before I feed them to him. Ussually we rince the worms in his water dish and feed him, then empty and wash the water dish, makes things easier.
