2 dragons...OK, I'm stupid...yes, I know...
So, I haven't told my family yet (they don't live with me but understand I am an animal nut)
When I bought Zhaodi, he was in tank with another little WD. Well, actually, the other one was slightly larger, but still, a little dragon. I brought Zhaodi home and he was eating and liked to sit on me, but when I wasn't holding him, he just sat on his waterfall rock and didn't seem too responsive.
Fast forward to last afternoon.....I'm at the pet store buying crickets and I check on the other dragon. He/she jumps up to the glass all excited. yep, yes, yes, yes, I brought his cage mate home. They slept like pancakes on their basking rock last night. It's amazing the difference in Zhaodi. No idea if they are siblings, but they definately enjoy each other's company. It's amazing, the difference in Zhaodi. I just pray I don't have two males...a boy and girl - ok. Two girls, perfect. I'm already looking at the cages by design monster cages. Hopefully by xmas time or tax time latest, they'll have their own condo.
Ok, now I am definately 'cut off'! From what I see on the web, they become sexually active arounde 5 yrs of age, so I'm not too worried right now, but because of how big they get, I know my 30 gal isn't gonna cut it.
Can anyone give me any input on housing two dragons and if they will part ways at approximately a certain age? they really seem to enjoy living together right now.

yeah, well fortunately I don't have to worry about the impending spanking, or "YOU TAKE THAT THING BACK!!!" but I just know they're gonna roll their eyes. lol.

Re: 2 dragons...OK, I'm stupid...yes, I know...
Ive only just got my first water dragon not too long ago so not too sure at what point they would go there own ways and want there own space but from what ive read if you make your enclosure big enough and extra long they would have enough space
i know when they do get older they can fight over basking spots if you only had one
i going out on a limb here but i'd say double the length of what the good size for an single adult dragon should be and that should be ok but again not 100% sure
in a book I have on them theres a lady who houses many of them together but there enclosure is also about 4 deep by 150 feet i'd say not sure its outside though

Re: 2 dragons...OK, I'm stupid...yes, I know...
hi there,
i have four water dragons and they live in this at the moment

this enclosure is 5' long 2' wide and 5' top to bottom , it's sitting on a fish tank 5' by 1' by 18" high and there bigger home will be started next month.
my dragons are 10 months old and already showing two males so one is been re-homed and you will know if yours are not compatible as on will be chased around the enclosure.
enclosure size for two , i would say 2' wide 4' long and as high as you can make it ,but at least 4'.
use live plants for keeping up humidity , keep any branches away from the glass as it stops the wd rubbing there snouts against the glass.
glass is expensive so I find double glazing panels and split the panel and get two pains and build the frame to fit the glass, this way is cheaper than buying the glass.
look out for old plastic coated chipboard been thrown out by neighbours as this is free and saves it been taken to the dump ie. flat packed wardrobes and kitchens as this wood is both flat and square so easier to build with.
hope this helps

Re: 2 dragons...OK, I'm stupid...yes, I know...
Hey hows it goin?
As far as the size of the terrarium goes for housing an adult pair. The terrarium must be at least 4'x4' wide/length and about 5' high ( 1.2 m x 1.2 m wide, and 1.5 m high or larger. as far the age limit on separating your dragons to prevent fighting, ect...givin the average size of an adult dragon ranges between 24 to 32 inches long. The max ever recorded was at 38 inches. My only consern is if you plan on breeding they both may become very protective of there nests/young and can fight over territory. So if you plan on keeping them in the same terrarium I would separate there basking and feeding areas on either side of the terrarium. otherwise the smaller, younger female may be chased off, pushed around, or attacked resulting in the larger female biting the tip of the tail off as well as biting at the crest causing injury and sometimes sever damage. As long as you dont have 2 males in the same enclosure there is no problem with housing 2 females together unless they are bred.
